Category: Accessible Games
Lets start with Star Conquest. This game is the game that spawned Miriani but unlike miriani this game seems to have some major flaws. Its staff is scarcastic and rude and the lack of events on a regular basis to contuine the story line hurt its player base and my overall rating in which I give it one star out of a possible five.
Next is Miriani. This game has a high player base and wonderful accessibilty but also has a flaw. Alot of the players are unhelpful and rude. Often overstepping the lines of piracy and stepping into the field of overall annoyance. In recent light it seems the staff is trying to fix the out of hand problem at least slightly so I give this game three starts out of five.
Thirdly is The Night. Known as TNC this game has a light playerbase and great roleplay. The staff for the most part is understanding and friendly and the players are helpful. This is a great game if you like the whole modern theme and I personally give it a five star rating.
Hellmoo is a post nuclear blast game where you go around and kill things to advance your experience points. Personally this game is great and only have a few flaws. Its staff is rather scarcastic and unhelpful often times doing something that results in your death. Also the staff makes alot of major changes so you may have your character the way you want it then discover it is not the same way the next day. Overall my rating is three stars.
If you like these opinions or even if you dont but WANT to see more please let me know.
I agree with the first two games, haven't played the last two ones, but definitly out TNC. Please post more.
Whoops looking back, I have played HELLMOO. Not one of my favorites.
Review of Cosmos - 7/15/09
This game is a joke some kid did not like how he was treated on some other game and decided to make his own. The problem is other than some name changes and a few minor changes this game is a complete rip off of a Miriani or Star Conquest. The immaturity goes even further with the head admin moving ships when bored or sometimes using his host character to help other players steal ships. My rating is nothing I cant even rate this game with zero stars and if I was forced to give it a rating I'd say -5 stars. Mainly for lack of creativity.
i love miriani, it's so cool. a lot of people may hate it, and that's up to them, but i think the game is done really well and you can never get bored of all the possible things that it has to offer
ok I will say this about cosmos, I have not played it enough myself to rate it. Offical Re-Review needed.
hell moo is a total joke, seriously, what kind of sick fuckers play that shit, ah well. I guess to each their own, but hell moo in my oppinion is a total fucking Joke.
TNC is kind of lame, it's all right for it's genre, but overall, it's just a lame mud for me personally to play, I'm not into the whole aspect of how things are done around there, I'll give it a 2.5 for good rp at least.
Miriani is a good game, though as previously stated people don't rp there very well and can sometimes get a bit annoying. Nevertheless though, I do like Miriani, it gave us star conquest folks something to play when sc was gone, and in a way I got kind of attached to miriani, so I give it a 4.
Now onto star conquest... Well, I still like it, I always have liked it, and the outsiders getting more involved in it is totally freaking awesome in my book. They're not just some ancient nemesis that we never really saw much of, now they are an eminent threat to the human race, and that's good to kind of back up the outsider plotline. Secondly, while i do agree the staff is a bit sarcastic, there's really nothing wrong with that, some people just have a sarcastic sense of humor, and sometimes the sarcasm can help lighten the burden of a problem. Thirdly, the playerbase is relatively weak, for what I can tell a couple of reasons. Firstly, I think most of the sc players kind of miss the old sc, the way it used to be, and aren't really used to the new things, after all it is the catalyst now, alot of things have changed. secondly, most sc players have also probably moved onto bigger and better things like mmo rpgs, or something kinda neat, hehehe kidding, but the sc population believe it or not consisted mostly of a sighted population, not like miriani or hell moo. And thirdly, while the hosts do try to make some things accessible for the visually impaired people on star conquest, they refuse to make it as easy as some people would like it to be, especially in combat situations.
Overall, after giving such a thorough review of all the games mentioned here, star conquest would have to be my favorite, but I still have a place in my heart for miriani as well, I give star conquest a 5.
Jess
I was all excited about SC's return...filled out an app...got it approved...played for a few days...and then just sort of lost interest. Maybe I'll pick it up again at some point.
chris, alot of us did. the game drags on too slow so yeah I don't play much myself.
the problem with SC is the events do not occur often enough. New review website coming soon and while I wont pay I will be letting some other than myself write reviews.
Some one has gotta help me out with the night, I've not a clue on what I gotta do. When I started up their was I thiink 2 players on. One more came on, then she left, and that was it. I played SC I think twice, and got bored of it as well. Kosmos is a joke, no creativity whatsoever. My favorites in order are: miriani, project bob, alter aeon.
I'd like to try the night. what's its theme? Miriani is good, it's my baby and the first moo i ever played, but if I hear the word lag on a mission one more time.. everyone's so ooc all the time. The hosts are nice, for the most part, and that's all I'll say on that matter.
I've played the new SC. It's ok I guess, it's nice when I'm stranded or pinned down in miriani but it does seem to drag a bit and the hosts don't seem as friendly as the miriani ones do. Someone throw me a link or info for tnc?
the night is the-night.com port 2000 and its theme is modern times. You live in a country and basically play as if you were making a life for yourself.
the site is down, and it's been down for like two hours. what's with that? I was gonna look at it... but it's offline. does this happen alot?
Not sure about the website itself but the game is up, I just logged into it.
TNC though has been rather dead lately but even before then there were only seven or so on
tnc is just a moo version of second life, if you haven't played second life, it's much better and cooler in my personal oppinion.
never played it but if its like TNC then I can picture it
It's like TNC other than the fact that it's graphical and has about a zillion players. Which is to say, maybe not so like it at all.
Is it even possible to play second life? I'd like to try that game.
for the moment my blog and ratings have moved to bcradio.org/phoenixsoft and remember I did say I would need some helpers :)
second life has an accessible version, but apparently it's like really stripped down, and sucks compared to the graphical version.
dont suppose heartbreaker and music master would care to help me go around play games and write these ratings? Would you?
Sure, give me something to do. Got any in mind? It'll keep me from being bored.
AA needs something wrote about it
so does that game firekitty on here was making or has made
I am going to work on one for shangrilamush.com
I'm hired to be a builder on firekitty's moo, I still haven't logged in, mainly cuz I forgot, but I can go ahead and start and let you guys know what I think.
What are some other games?
I need to give you guys writing access to the blog, I just ask you not to mess with anything in the admin panel other than to write.
if you want of course
Ok, here it goes...
Miriani (Troy Pierson)
I've played this since 2007, had a shitload of characters, and watched things slide downhill considerably since my first day playing. Granted, it does pass the time, but the immaturity of most of the newer players has caused me to play less then I used to. Sure, there's been changes, some for the better, and a few for the worst, but I still play to just stay connected with the old school pilots. I would give it a 3 out of 5, as the lack of solid role players is what drags Miriani down.
StarConquest (Rusty McClure)
Boring... The only reason I even still sign in is because I know one of the hosts of SC, since we play together on Hell Moo. Not a lot to talk about that nakes me recommend SC, but for what it is, I'd give it 2 out of 5, as people seem to actually role play, unlike Miriani.
Hell Moo (Shorty)
Now here's my favorite... and, yes, I'm a sick freak. Where else can you get away with doing all that stuff in real life without winding up in jail or dead? It's fun, there's lots of players, and I've managed to build a character with some experience. One bonus... no roleplaying required. Have to give Hell Moo 5 out of 5 for just being the cure for my aggressive side.
I've never heard of the rest of these games, but I'm looking for new games to try out )especially after I learn the ropes of Mushclient).
If you're wondering why I put my character's names next to each comment, it's because I'd like to meet some people in each game... especially in Miriani. Well, that's all for my two cents.
well, there are a host of other games out there. There is aardwolf, three kingdoms, achaea, lusternia, and the list is virtually endless. I would recomend some of the games from iron realms. I've found them quite engaging. The combat system in all of those are quite deep in my oppinion.
Okay, this sounds interesting. What's a moo and is it the same as a mud? What kind of program do I need to run these and where can I get it? I know vip-mud client is for mud games and you can import the port things and store them in the mud client, but these sound different. I'm not that familiar with the RPG games, but standard text adventure games. Any advice or help would be appreciated through this post, a PM or whatever.
hastity
basically, an mmos is exactly the same as a mud. The mud client works with all of them... Witch client do you have?
it's exactly the same, moo is a type of codebase, basically, each type of mud has a codebase in which it is written.
I'm annoyed with listernia because you basically need to pay real money to gain any sort of levels quickly, kinda like sryth in that sense, though sryth is a browser game and not necessarily a mud, but still.
oh man, lusty was kind of fun to play, but I hated having to pay for it.
I found out the games and am now looking for the best client, other than vip-mud to run them. I also found several really large sites that list muds, moo, mush and other formats of games.
If your looking for some old school pilots, hunt around for blake madison or calandria heartsler on miriani.
thanks, I'll take a look.
I'm even more old school I've been two characters, look for casandra heart, that's my current one, though I used to be Jessica Fitzpatrick once upon a time. Lol.
Anyway, I'd be willing to help ya.
Jess
actually, you don't have to pay for any of the iron realms games, they're all free
Oh, your cassandra heart? Your husband is a jerk. hahaha.
Hahahaha, yeah I guess my husband can be a jerk to some. To me though he's so cute and cuddly, lol. Though he stranded me on pluto once, even if it was for like 5 mins rofl.
So Star Conquest seems to have a issue right now, they put their server in hurricane central. Gee this is smart. At least Albori has a brain to host it in his own basement.
Secondly, even with it down. When it returns folks should join...I would be nice to see some greater numbers playing it!
Oh and they may open the EAOS again to players if the playerbase goes up
I really hope they do, I'd love to be EAOS.
SCc frustrates me so much though. I guess I'm just too use to Miriani. So I tried alter and hate it. I looked at cosmos because i was bored and it's the biggest rip off I've ever seen... no offense? And as for iron realms, if you wanna get anywhere, once you get at a good level you have to start paying to level up unless you wanna wait like two months to gain enough experience. I'm picky lol. The night is fun, but I feel like there are not enough help files to tell you what's going on in the game.
But I am looking for a good moo to play, so any suggestions?
Project bob!
how did I know you were going to say that
I like project bob!! I haven't really played there lately, but I really enjoyed it back when I played regularly!!
SC's biggest problem is the lack of people they seem to max out at 20 on a good day and 8 or 9 most of the other times. I do think if more signed up and connected they would start getting other activities up faster. I would like to be part of the EAOS before I turn 60 as well.
Albori copies SC way too much but see me for proof later
Stellerous is looking really really really good.
well, the whole point of miriani was to have a replacement sc when it shut down before, so yeah, it's kind of copyish. But I like miriani a lot more.
that's kinda true but sc has alot of it's own things that miriani didn't necessarily copy anymore. And for tha tmatter Miriani also did some of their own things that sc didn't copy. I think both of the moos have their own things now and it's not fair to say that both si exactly like the other because I think enough about them has changed. That's jsut my thoughts.
ok, so I recently got back in to mudding again, and here are the opinions of the ones i've played. I went back to miriani, and i've gotta say, it was alright up to a point, but i got bored on there, maybe because i wasn't sure where to go with it, i didn't know anyone on there. I think i was dan_c on there or something, but i'm gonna make a new char and start over if anyone wants to meet up there. Now, i'm mostly playing hell, which is amazing! Damn, i am so glad that my girlfriend doesn't know what it envolves. lol. I think its brilliant, i'm not doing that badly on there i created my char a while back, ment to give it an imaginative name but didn't because i wasn't paying attention to what field i was writing in and couldn't change it. damn! i'm dan_c on there, for definet if you want to meet up or anything. Now, i am also on val halla, which I love. the players are incredibly helpful, even the gods. its not hard to get to grips with, even though there arn't many logged on at once, that's ok. its a great roll playing game. Oh and another thing with hell, the people who say that everyone just kills you, are wrong, that doesn't happen to me offten unless i do something stupid obviously. i've found a lot who are helpful and awesome, admittedly there are a few jerks, but you get that anywear. oh by the way, i use vip mud, but the main reason for that is that it has the output window so you can look up certain things when you want rather than just getting the info once. can you do this with muss client or any other? because i don't want to have to pay for a cllient yet, i don't have the money. plus, most of the sound packs don't work with vip mud. thanks, see you guys around.
restarting phoenixsoft reviews, if your interested in having a reviewer account email me at management@bcradio.org and I will get back to you.
To post 55, you can do all of that with any mud client, whether it would be monkeyterm, mushclient. Just use your jaws cursor.
So, just curious, how many use newer readers like NVDA, System Access or VoiceOver for doing MUDS with?
